More about this calculation

Value-added tax (VAT, known as KDV in Turkey) is a consumption tax added to the price of goods and services, and this calculator adds it to a net price or extracts it from a gross price.

VAT is charged at different rates depending on the product or service. In Turkey the common rates are 1%, 10% and 20%. To add VAT, multiply the net amount by the rate and add it to the net price. To find the VAT already included in a gross price, divide the gross amount by one plus the rate.

Frequently asked questions

How is VAT calculated?

VAT is found by multiplying the net price by the VAT rate. For example, 20% of 100 is 20, so the price including VAT is 120.

What are the common VAT rates in Turkey?

The most common VAT rates are 1%, 10% and 20%, depending on the type of goods or services.

How do I remove VAT from a price?

Divide the price including VAT by one plus the rate. For a 20% rate, divide the gross price by 1.20.
